“What?!”
The manager’s confusion was written all over his face. “Kenneth, do you mean…”
“Exactly what you’re thinking.”
Kenneth straightened up, locking eyes with his manager, his tone dead serious. “I like Emily. I’m going to go after her.”
And he was sure he would make it happen.
So, honestly, the rumors today were bound to come true sooner or later.
What was the point of clearing anything up?
His manager just stood there, hand pressed to his forehead, at a total loss for words.
Way too sudden.
He knew Kenneth felt something different for Emily, but he never expected him to admit it out loud, or say so bluntly that he wanted to chase after her.
Looked like this time, he really meant it.
“Emily just got out of a relationship…” the manager finally said, and his voice was gentle. “Trying to date her now… It might not go so smoothly.”
“Not smooth?” Kenneth raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smirk on his lips. “I’ve got a whole lifetime. You really think I can’t win her over?”
A lifetime?
The manager was floored. He went silent for a long moment before getting serious. “If your relationship goes public, I won’t be able to explain it to your fans. It could hurt your career.”
There were so many celebrities whose reputations took a hit after a public romance. And for someone like Kenneth, who was at his peak, even the smallest mistake could be a disaster.
“So I need to answer to everyone just for wanting a girlfriend?” Kenneth tugged his tie loose, looking out the window with a slightly bitter smile. “Worst case, I’ll just quit the industry.”
In fact, he was already getting tired of it all. Stepping back to just write songs didn’t sound so bad.
The manager was silent, completely out of arguments.
