Charlotte pressed her lips together, her eyes suddenly clouding over as an icy tension filled the room.

“A few days ago, I heard something from a coworker.” Pam’s voice shook and her breathing turned unsteady. “Adela’s been struggling ever since her father died. She got blacklisted everywhere and her fans ditched her… It was a lot at once. Supposedly, she sort of snapped. Do you think… could she have taken Emily for revenge?”

Revenge. Was that it?

Maybe that was why the kidnapping news was all over the internet. Maybe money wasn’t the point at all.

A muscle pulsed in Kenneth’s jaw as he glanced at Charlotte, his voice coarse. “Lottie, check Adela’s recent flights and car locations.”

Charlotte tapped a few keys, barely even looking at the screen. “Four days ago, Adela was in Brenland. She came back the same day as her film crew. Her car’s last location… it was in Rivonia. Out in the middle of nowhere.”

Kenneth’s breath caught. Something dark simmered in his eyes.

“Rivonia?” Pam’s eyes went huge. She covered her mouth, voice quivering.

Rivonia sat out where the city scraped up against the edge of nothing—a rundown place crawling with all sorts of sketchy people.

“Why would Adela bring Emily there?” Pam whispered.

Kenneth felt like he’d just been hit with a truck.

“Anthony, I thought your reach went all the way through Cabinda?” Kenneth straightened, fighting to keep his cool as he looked at Anthony. “Do you know anyone in Rivonia?”

“Not a soul.” Anthony’s reply was flat and cold.

X Organization had connections everywhere, but Anthony never dealt with trash like Rivonia.

“Hans, see if you can find anyone there…” Anthony’s expression hardened. He looked ready for war as he barked out the order. “Get the car.”
