No one really knew what was waiting for them at the scene. He wasn’t willing to risk three lives just to take a chance.
Charlotte stayed quiet, her eyes finding Anthony.
“Let her go,” Anthony said, his voice low and cool as he held onto Charlotte’s hand.
Kenneth parted his lips like he wanted to protest, but in the end, he just nodded. “Keep her safe.”
Keep her safe? Anthony simply pulled Charlotte close, wrapping his arm around her and gazing down at her calm, almost chilly face. His mouth was a thin, determined line.
If things turned violent… the others might not even get a shot at fighting back.

Across town, inside a tiny, rundown rental, the mood couldn’t have been more different. Adela stood by a battered window, glued to the news glowing on her phone. Her eyes grew wide as she read.
Emily was somehow connected to the Blair family? That had to be a mistake. There was just no way.
But when she looked over and saw Emily, still out cold on the floor, the pieces started to come together. That was why Emily got to grow up alongside Kenneth. Why she had friends like J and Jeva and access to everything and everyone at the top.
Adela felt the blood drain from her face as she kept scrolling through the headlines. Every post she’d leaked had vanished—deleted without a trace. The Blair Group’s official statement was front and center everywhere she looked. With someone like the Blair family backing Emily, nobody dared say a word against her anymore.
The further she read, the more unsettled she became.
“All this time…” she muttered.
Suddenly, the door flew open and one of her guys rushed in, sweating and pale. “Adela, did you see the news? Emily’s with the Blairs!”
