The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1513

Ten years.

Emily had loved him for a decade. Most of her twenties, all those bright and restless days, she’d given to him, even if he never noticed.

“So that night when she was drunk, shouting she’d never fall for someone again, she was talking about me.” Kenneth tried to smile, but his lips barely moved and his voice came out rough and raw. “Why did she just… stop?”

Charlotte’s voice was quiet, with an edge of coolness. “She heard you call her your little sister, Kenneth. You owe Emily. You really do.”

Those words hit him hard. Thinking back on all the silent things Emily had done, the years she’d cared and waited, Kenneth felt a sharp, ripping pain in his chest. There was no denying it now. He owed her—big time.

Ten minutes later, a parade of cars pulled up outside Rivonia.

Jimmie stood at the entrance, neat for once with a line of his guys behind him, everyone looking a little too proper for their usual style. When the middle sports car came to a stop, Jimmie quickly straightened his collar and jogged over to open the door himself.

“Anthony,” he said, his greeting simple, his eyes giving nothing away. Anthony was the king of Cabinda, sure, but their territories didn’t usually overlap. Jimmie showed just enough respect, nothing more.

Then he looked past Anthony and caught sight of Charlotte.

Immediately, Jimmie bent forward, deep and formal. “Beauty, you’re here,” he said, voice full of careful respect.

Charlotte nodded, her gaze cool and clear. “Any news about Emily?” she asked quietly.

“There’s been an update.” Jimmie stepped aside, taking up a spot behind her, almost melting into the background despite the fierce scar that slashed across his face. The look made him seem dangerous, but his attitude was nothing but grateful and humble.

Two years back, Charlotte had visited Cabinda on business. She’d saved Jimmie’s life—he’d been left for dead, bleeding out in the street. She hadn’t just patched him up; she’d also cleared out the men who’d done it. Jimmie had never forgotten.

“We checked security cameras, narrowed the search. Emily’s definitely still somewhere in Rivonia. We’re pretty sure of her location now—it’ll take fifteen minutes, max, to find her.”

Here, in his territory, there was no way anyone slipped through unnoticed. Once you were in, you weren’t getting out.
