Kenneth actually likes her.

“I’ve said everything I needed to. Just… think it over, okay?”

Kenneth shifted awkwardly, gently scooped Emily up, and set her down on the sofa. He reached out and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. “And stay away from Jarrod. I don’t like him.”

He didn’t wait for her reply. Hands shoved into his pockets, he tried to play it cool as he walked out of the lounge, but he definitely wasn't calm inside.

Before Emily could even process what just happened, Pam barreled in, pushing open the door.

“Why was Kenneth in here for so long?”

Pam’s face was tense as she strode straight to Emily. She caught sight of Emily looking dazed on the couch, cheeks flushed pink, and frowned. “Did you see what’s happening online?”

“What news?” Emily blinked, Pam’s voice snapping her back to reality.

“This!” Pam whipped out her phone and pulled up Twitter. She showed Emily the number one trending topic: “Kenneth and Emily’s Relationship Exposed.”

A bunch of other trending stories were about them too. They’d basically taken over.

“It’s probably because Kenneth was so blatantly protective of you on the red carpet,” Pam said, sighing. “This is huge. If you want things to calm down, you and Kenneth will both have to deny it. At the same time.”

Emily just stared at the screen, quiet. She tapped on the top tweet and scrolled through the comments.
