The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 583

Lucas grinned. “Well, once he’s in this game, it’s not so easy to walk away.”

“Come on, Lucas, you’re joking. Working for our boss is a big deal. Jace isn’t looking to leave anytime soon.”

Lucas had already heard enough. He waved them off. “Alright, off you go. We’ll be fine here.”

“Sure thing, Lucas. If you need anything, just say the word.”

“Got it.”

The guys in black left.

Lucas turned to Lilly. “Do you know who really owns this casino? I heard the boss is deep into the drug trade. And now Jace is working for him.”

Lilly stared at Lucas, totally shocked. The boss was a drug dealer? Did Jace know what he was getting into?

She knew Jace was smart. He could’ve done anything, taken so many different paths, and still made good money. Why did choose this one?

Lucas gave her a sly look. “See, Lilly? Jace is mixed up in all this now. He’s not on the same track as you. You should end things before you get hurt. The two of you are never going to work.”

Lilly clenched her fists. “Lucas, if you’ve got so much time on your hands, maybe you should go find your girlfriend, Sarah. My love life doesn’t concern you.”

“Lilly, I’m just trying to help. Don’t take it the wrong way.”

“Help me?” Lilly laughed, the sound sharp. “Lucas, I remember exactly how much you hated me back then, how you cheated on me with Sarah. Now suddenly you care? Since when?”

Lucas froze. “I…”

Lilly’s eyes narrowed, her gaze suspicious. “Lucas, don’t tell me you’ve fallen for me.”

What?

The words seemed to hit a nerve. Lucas shook his head right away. “Lilly, are you out of your mind? Why would I ever be interested in you?”

“Good. That’s how it should be. Don’t even think about it, Lucas. If you did, I’d lose all respect for you.”
