He needed to calm down and shake off the restless energy burning inside him.
He and Lilly had been apart for a while now. At his age, he was young and full of desires. After being around Lilly, how could he not start wanting more?
His phone chimed.
Jason pulled the phone out of his pocket and checked his messages. There was a new greeting text. The username popped up: “Applepie.”
He couldn’t help but smirk a little. When did she change her username? “Applepie”—was she trying to be sweet now? But honestly, she really was pretty cute.
He replied.
Pattie was absolutely thrilled when she saw the text. She nearly jumped off the couch. “He replied! He really replied! Lilly, Jason replied me!”
Jason had Pattie on his contacts now.
Lilly forced a polite smile. “Congrats, then.”
Pattie was already typing fast. “I’m going to message him right now.”
She went straight for it, sending: “I like you.”
Pattie was the type of girl who didn’t play games. She just confessed, boldly and without hesitation.
A second later, Jason’s phone buzzed. That message—she liked him.
All that heat he’d tried to forget came rushing back. He typed out a reply.
Pattie was glued to her screen, waiting. “He texted back! Let’s see what he said.”
Lilly peeked at her phone. Jason had written, “How much?”
The way a grown man responds when a girl confesses… asking “How much?” That was pure flirting. The kind that makes you blush.
And like clockwork, Pattie’s pretty face was flushed pink. Earlier, when she’d seen Jason in the living room, he seemed almost untouchable—cool, distant, not interested in any girl at all.
But now, he’d actually replied, “How much?”
He was such a tease.
