Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 258

"Okay then."

Patricia looked at Naomi with pleading eyes. To be honest, she really didn't want to be alone while she was sick. It was just too depressing.

She was touched and happy that Naomi could stay. If she wasn't hooked up to an IV, she would have jumped up and given Naomi a huge hug.

"I'm going to make that call."

"If you're tired, get some sleep."

"Okay." Without her usual fiery energy, Patricia looked quite docile. Naomi couldn't resist reaching out and patting her on the head.

Patricia immediately yelped.

"Hey! Don't pet me like a dog!"

Naomi laughed and darted out of the room.

Watching Naomi's retreating figure, Patricia's eyes filled with relief.

It might be hindsight, but she truly felt that Naomi seemed so much happier after getting away from that jerk Zebulon.

Knock, knock, knock.

Patricia looked up. "That was a fast call—huh?"

Seeing Luther standing at the door, her eyes widened in surprise. "What are you doing here?"

Luther had clearly run all the way. His chest was heaving, and his bangs were damp with sweat. He looked frantic and a little pitiful.

"I thought something had happened to you."

Luther covered his face, as if trying to hide his vulnerability from her. "Thank god you're okay."

Patricia stared at him, bluntly killing the mood. "Are you crying?"

She had heard a tremor in his voice and was sure she wasn't mistaken.

"You heard wrong." Luther, of course, wouldn't admit it, but he chose that moment to look up, revealing his reddened eyes to Patricia.
