This strategy didn’t just blend the latest international trends with local style, it also broke through the old idea that luxury was only for a chosen few. They set the price right at the edge of what counts as luxury, which turned out to be the sweet spot. The results spoke for themselves.
When Never’s market report wrapped up, the whole room went silent.
Felix sat in his wheelchair, glancing at Nicholas, who looked completely unfazed. Felix couldn’t hide the hint of a smile on his lips.
It was obvious now. Nicholas’s decision to let Nelly go had been a huge mistake.
The silence was broken by the sound of applause. Michael started clapping, and suddenly, as if everyone woke up at once, the rest of the family joined in.
Michael might have had a head full of white hair, but he was sharp and commanding as ever at the head of the table. When he looked at Nelly, his eyes softened and his smile was warm. “Well done. Really well done. You’re a true Watson. Each generation just gets better. Nelly, you’re every bit as impressive as your father Christopher was back in his day.”
Christopher had built his career from nothing, never taking a dime from the Watson family’s fortune. In just a few years, he’d grown his empire a hundred times over. Watching Nelly now, it wasn’t hard to imagine her surpassing him.
But when Michael brought up Christopher, Nelly’s smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. She felt nothing but disgust at being compared to him.
That was the Watson family for you. Wealthy and powerful, but they treated their children like parts in a machine. Everything was about profit. Who got rewarded, who got punished, even who was loved or ignored—it all depended on what you could do for the family. It was twisted.
Nelly answered Michael’s praise with only a polite nod, then shifted the spotlight. “Never’s success is also thanks to Nancy. She deserves a lot of the credit too.”
Everyone turned to look at Nancy.
No one had really paid her any attention before. In the Watson family, Nancy was the odd one out, the rebellious daughter who just didn’t fit in. Going into show business was embarrassing enough, but mixing with the Chandlers made it worse. Everyone saw her as hopeless.
