When Family Became a Place I Couldn’t Return To novel Chapter 373

“Nelly, if you’re angry, just take it out on me, okay? Please… just don’t threaten Brody. It was my fault…” Sheila’s voice trembled as she started to cry, tears streaking down her face. Even with her arm twisted behind her, pain written all over her features, she wouldn’t stop pleading.

Nelly’s eyes narrowed. “Marian!” she called out, her voice sharp and commanding. Only then did the woman outside dare to crack the door open, peeking in as if afraid to step across the threshold.

Marian had been eavesdropping for a while. With her love for gossip, there was no way she would miss this kind of drama. Nelly knew exactly what she was up to.

“Call the police. Tell them there’s adultery happening in this house. And where are the bodyguards? Bring them in to keep an eye on her. Mr. Garland and I need to talk.”

Nelly gave Sheila’s arm a rough tug. Sheila tried to fight back, but she was as helpless as a trapped moth, her strength completely gone. She turned to Brody with red, desperate eyes. “Brody…”

“Nelly, let her go!” Brody finally snapped, unable to watch any longer. He didn’t want to make things worse between them, but Nelly was acting more out of control by the minute. He reached for her arm, trying to force her to release Sheila.

Nelly refused to let go. The more Brody pulled, the tighter her grip became. Her nails dug into Sheila’s skin, making Sheila cry out in pain.

“Why are you just standing there? Call the police,” Nelly said again, her tone icy as she addressed Marian.

Marian hesitated, glancing at Brody. “Sir…”

“Leave,” Brody replied coldly.
