“We brought Jace like you asked.”

Lucas walked over to the car and looked inside. Jace was slumped in the seat, his whole body smeared with blood. The stab wound in his stomach was still bleeding, and now there was another gash near his heart. Blood had soaked through his clothes.

Jace’s face was ghostly pale, his eyes unfocused. When he saw Lucas, he croaked out, “It’s you?”

Lucas just smirked. “Yeah, it’s me. Don’t look at me like that, Jace. You did this to yourself. Did you really think you were good enough for Lilly? She was never meant for you. Lilly’s mine.”

Jace managed a faint, bitter laugh. “Lilly… will never… love you.”

Lucas’s eyes turned cold. “You really think she loves you for anything but your face? If you lost that pretty-boy look, do you think she’d still want you?”

At that moment, one of the bodyguards stepped up and handed Lucas a small bottle. “Be careful, Lucas. This stuff will burn right through your skin.”

Lucas took the bottle, twisted the cap off, and in one smooth motion, poured the acid straight onto Jace’s face.

Jace screamed, his whole body jerking from the pain. The acid hissed as it ate away at his skin, leaving his face a mess of blood and burns.

Lucas felt a twisted sense of relief. Jace had always been a thorn in his side, first at school, when they both chased the title of campus heartthrob, and now with Lilly. How could someone from nothing dare to compete with him? It was ridiculous.

The bodyguard offered him a handkerchief. “Here, Lucas.”

Lucas took it and wiped his hands, barely glancing at the mess he’d made. “Just let go, Jace. It’s over. Lilly will forget you soon enough. I’ll be there for her, and I’ll make sure she’s happy.”

Jace’s eyes were rimmed with red as he glared at Lucas, trying to drag himself forward. He couldn’t move, the pain was too much.

Lucas glanced at his men. “Push the car off the cliff. I want him gone for good. Got it?”

One of the bodyguards nodded. “We’ve got it.”
