The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 601

Lilly pressed her phone to her ear. “Jace, are you there? Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Jace stood under the cold shower, the water pouring over him, but it did nothing to cool the rush of heat inside. Lilly’s sweet, lilting voice cut straight through him, making his chest tighten and his eyes burn.

He let out a rough hum. “Yeah. I’m here.”

“Jace, what’s going on? You sound weird. What are you doing?” Lilly’s concern came through the line, light but insistent.

Jace closed his eyes, feeling a heavy frustration settle in his bones. He gripped the phone tighter, his other hand wandering restlessly. “Lilly…” he groaned, her name thick on his tongue.

“I’m here, Jace. Where are you? Why won’t you answer me?” Her voice was gentle, but he could hear the worry behind her words.

She paused, then her tone shifted. “You’re not with Lilian, are you? I don’t want you with her. And you better not be doing anything with her, do you hear me?”

Jace stayed silent, letting her voice fill the space between them.

“Jace, do you miss me?” she asked, suddenly soft.

That question made him freeze.

“If you do, come see me. I’m at home, all alone. Dad and Ava are out tonight. It’s just me here.”

Jace didn’t say a word.

“Okay, Jace. If you’re not going to talk, I’m hanging up.” Her voice was light, but he could hear the disappointment underneath.

She ended the call, leaving him with the echo of her words.

He couldn’t help it. Every thought he had was about Lilly. He wanted to see her. Needed to.
