The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 577

“You’ve done a decent job taking care of Jessa all these years, and you’ve kept your head down. I tolerated you, but tell me, why did this happen to Peter? I think it’s all your fault!”

Grandma Jill’s words hit Rachel like a slap, harsh and unforgiving.

Rachel’s face went pale. So, Mrs. Irvine was finally saying what she really thought. She had never respected her, not for a second.

Rachel felt sick to her stomach, like she might actually throw up. She hated Peter. She hated Grandma Jill. She hated everyone who’d ever looked down on her.

She’d been crazy about Peter once, desperate enough to scheme her way into becoming his wife. But after all these years, she had never truly belonged. The whole Irvine family looked at her like she was beneath them.

Rachel turned away, her voice trembling with tears. “I’m sorry. It’s my fault. I should have taken better care of Peter. Whatever happens, I’ll stay by his side, I promise.”

“You’d better,” Grandma Jill snapped. “Jessa is an heiress, and you’re not even her real mother. Without the Irvine family, you’re nothing.”

With that, Grandma Jill swept out of the room.

When she was gone, Rachel slowly pushed herself to her feet. Her face was empty, and she wiped her tears away like they didn’t matter.

She stared at Peter lying in the hospital bed. He was barely alive, a shell of a person. Now, she got to decide how the story would play out.

As for Grandma Jill, that old hag would get what was coming to her soon enough.

The Irvines had no idea that Jessa was actually her daughter.

They didn’t know she’d been playing them this entire time.

She had the whole Irvine family in the palm of her hand.

A little laugh slipped out of her. Then another, brighter and sharper.

Rachel grinned, feeling a rush of satisfaction.
