Ella frowned, her mind buzzing with questions. Why were Rachel and Peter here? Were they just making sure she was really working on Jessa’s antidote?

It made sense, she supposed. Peter had always treated Jessa like she was his whole world. Still, something about Rachel didn’t sit right with her. There was just something… off. Like Rachel was hiding something.

Moss walked in right then. "What happened?"

David glanced up. "Peter had an accident. They've taken him to the hospital."

Moss nodded, then turned to Ella. "Are you alright?"

Ella shook her head, about to speak, when David suddenly stepped in front of her, his tall frame blocking her view.

David looked at Moss. "Uncke Moss, Ella is fine."

Ella let out a breath and sat down. "You should leave. I need to work on the antidote."

David gave Moss a look. "Uncke Moss, Ella said you should go."

Moss raised an eyebrow. "Pretty sure she meant you too."

David sighed. "Alright, Uncke Moss. Let’s go."

"Fine."

Moss headed out first. Only after he left did David finally follow him out, making sure the door was shut behind them.

Ella sat at the table, picked up the vial of blood Moss had left her, and started preparing the antidote.
