Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 444

Chapter 444 Old-Fashioned Guy

Hugh stared at Bethan's pretty face, his Adam's apple bobbing uncontrollably.

With a heavy heart, he forced his feet forward, only to have Bethan swing the door open just then.

"Gosh, it's freezing out. Hugh, you'd better head back. See you later tonight," Bethan said from the doorway, her tone gentle yet firm.

Hugh stood there stunned as the door shut again. The foot he'd been about to step forward with slowly dropped back to the ground.

A tightness seized his chest, and he lingered in front of the door, lost in thought, before finally making his way downstairs.

A good ten-plus minutes later, Hugh pulled his car out of the neighborhood. Coincidentally, he spotted Tristen's car rolling in from the outside. His eyes narrowed slightly.

As their cars passed each other, Tristen caught sight of Hugh and offered a polite nod.

Then, his car glided smoothly into the neighborhood, while Hugh parked his on the curb outside.

Meanwhile, inside the apartment, Bethan had just changed and was gearing up to head to her relatives' to pick up her parents and brother when the doorbell rang.

A frown creased her forehead.

She'd made her stance crystal-clear to Hugh.

And he'd sworn not to meddle in her life, promising to watch her find happiness.

So, what is he up to now?

Taking a deep breath, Bethan plastered a cold look on her face and opened the door.

But when she saw Tristen standing there, her features softened instantly. "Tristen! What brings you here?"

Tristen stood at the threshold, holding a bag of high-end supplements. Standing tall, he cut an imposing figure in his turtleneck sweater and a well-tailored long coat, exuding an air of understated elegance, like a scion from an old-money family.

Tristen peeked past Bethan and said, "Bethan, I've thought this through. I reckon I need to come and apologize to your parents and set the record straight."

Before he could finish his sentence, Bethan's eyes widened in alarm.

She reached out, grabbed his arm, and yanked him inside, slamming the door shut behind them.

After setting the supplements down, Tristen asked, "Are your parents home?"

Bethan let out an inaudible sigh of relief.

Thank God they're not!

Pointing at her temple, she said earnestly, "Tristen, I'm all grown up. I can handle my own affairs. You don't need to talk to my parents."
