Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 456

chapter 456 Cook Himself

With a swift turn, Bethan made her way over to Hugh.

Standing right in front of him, she declared in an open-hearted manner, "Tristen? Oh, he's the whole package. Good family background, sharp as a tack, gorgeous, and a personality to die for. He's a nice guy."

Hugh stared intently at Bethan's face and asked, "So if he pursues you, would you say yes?"

Bethan lifted her gaze, meeting Hugh's eyes head-on.

This kind of obvious fishing for information was so out of character for Hugh.

Looking him straight in the eye, she enunciated slowly, "Might be."

Her story with Tristen had begun with a wild, drunken night.

If only she could wipe that night from Tristen's memory.

But Tristen was clearly keen on taking things further.

He was upfront about his feelings, a bit flirty but never pushy.

He respected her wishes to keep things under wraps and hadn't breathed a word to anyone.

Well, except for those occasional cheesy pick-up lines.

Tristen was a catch, no doubt about it.

If she ever found herself falling for him, she'd be brave enough to embrace it.

Bethan's firm response hit Hugh like a punch to the gut. His eyes darted around uneasily.

"It's freezing out here. Get inside," he said.

Bethan gave him a quick look and then pivoted on her foot.

Hugh watched her disappear into the elevator, and he felt like he couldn't breathe.

He took a couple of steps back and leaned against the car door for support.

"Might be" meant it wasn't a done deal yet.

Bethan had loved him with all her heart and had been horribly let down.

She wouldn't just jump into another relationship.

As long as she was single, there was still hope for him.

Hugh repeated this like a mantra in his head.

The following evening at the Cavill Manor, Gwen strolled up to the kitchen doorway.

"Hugh, you've been slaving away in here all afternoon. There's no way Bethan can polish off all this food."

It was a rare sight to see Hugh in the kitchen.

Two chefs were hovering nearby, guiding him as he meticulously arranged the food on the plates.

"Keep your mouth shut when she's around, got it?" he reminded his sister.

Bethan had turned her nose up at his cooking ever since he'd baked a cake for Megan.

He couldn't let her in on the little secret that he'd prepared tonight's dinner.

Just then, Logan burst into the kitchen. "Mr. Cavill, Ms. Olsen has arrived."

Hugh quickly put down what he was doing and shrugged off his apron.
