Chapter 458 Can I Say Yes?
One fine day, Bethan tagged along with her parents and Barry for a shopping spree.
As they emerged from the supermarket, an unexpected scene unfolded before their eyes: an old man's electric tricycle was careening out of control, its brakes having failed.
Barry, with his lightning-fast reflexes, darted forward to lend a hand.
Yet, despite his efforts, the tricycle still plowed into the door of a shiny new BMW, finally grinding to a halt.
The impact sent the old man tumbling to the ground. Without hesitation, Barry rushed over and helped the old man up.
"Thanks a bunch, young man," the old man said, his voice filled with gratitude.
Just then, a young couple hopped out of the BMW. Their faces contorted with anger at the sight of the chipped paint on the door.
"Are you guys blind? Do you even know how much this car costs? You couldn't pay for the damages if you sold yourselves!" the young man barked, jabbing his finger at the old man and Barry.
Bethan's parents quickly stepped in front of Barry, shielding him. "Hey, watch your language! There's no need for that kind of talk."
Bethan spoke up, "It wasn't us who hit your car. You should get in touch with this old man's family."
Sure, being kind was important, but there was a limit.
Even if compensation was on the table, Bethan wasn't about to shell out a single cent.
The young woman, hands on her hips, pointed at the Olsens.
"You're so chummy with this old guy. You must be in cahoots with him."
The old man, looking dejected, shuffled forward. "My son has disowned me. I don't have the money to pay for the damages," he mumbled.
This only seemed to fuel the young couple's anger. They were determined not to let the Olsens leave.
The young man, in a fit of rage, gave the old man a hard shove, sending him crashing to the ground. "Get out of my way, you old geezer!"
The commotion attracted a small crowd of onlookers, who gathered around to see what was going on.
Barry, full of youthful spirit and a strong sense of justice, couldn't stand by and watch.
He stepped forward, his eyes blazing with anger. "You'd better show some respect to the elderly!"
In response, the young man lunged at Barry. "You're not leaving until you pay up, you hear me?"
Bethan quickly turned to Miranda. "Mom, call the police," she said firmly. Then, she and her father rushed to Barry's side, forming a human barrier.
Just as the situation was getting out of hand, a sleek black Bentley glided to a stop behind the group.
The door opened, and Hugh stepped out.
The young man, seeing Hugh, felt a twinge of recognition.
The sight of Hugh, stepping out of a luxury car and dressed in expensive clothes, made the couple's arrogance evaporate like mist.
Taking advantage of the moment, Bethan pulled Barry and Vincent to the side.
Barry, relieved to see Hugh, ran over to him, his face full of grievance. "Hugh, they've been picking on us," he whined.
