Chapter 442 She'd Lose Everything
Once Gwen led Sarah and Jessica out the door, Maria felt a sudden wave of dizziness and almost crumpled to the ground.
In a flurry of panic, she blurted out to Bradley, "Bradley, your daughter just snapped pictures of us. You can't call the cops."
Swiftly, Bradley helped her onto the bed. "I'll put this on hold for now. Let them off the hook this time."
Just then, the cops who'd been called showed up.
Bradley and Maria fibbed, saying they'd been in a heated argument and hadn't made themselves clear. The cops gave them a good scolding.
After the officers left, Maria plopped down on the bed and broke into tears.
Covering her face with both hands, she wailed, "Bradley, we got busted by your wife and daughter, and they've got the pictures. Even if I have your son, I'll never be able to hold my head up high.
"Ms. Cavill is your daughter's friend. She saw the whole thing. What if she spills the beans to her family? What if Mr. Cavill questions your character and refuses to let Megan go because of this? What am I supposed to do?
"I've been with you for over a decade, no proper title. I've had miscarriages trying to give you a son. Who'd have thought I'd end up getting beaten half to death by your wife and her sisters? What's all this been for?"
Bradley sat on the edge of the bed, his face as puffy as a balloon and his whole body sore.
He still took Maria in his arms.
He promised, "Don't fret, Maria. Now that everything's out in the open, there's no use hiding. Just stay home for now. I'll find a way to get your niece out of jail."
Maria pressed further, "Bradley, I don't mind the hard times, but I won't let my son be looked down upon. Get my niece out, divorce your wife, and give me a proper place. I won't let my son be a bastard."
Originally, she'd planned to wait until the baby was born to ask Bradley for a divorce.
But now that their affair was exposed, there was no way to hide her pregnancy as her belly grew.
If Bradley didn't divorce soon and marry her into the Field family as the proper Mrs. Field, Sarah and her relatives would never leave Maria alone.
She'd lose everything—her beauty salon, her baby, and her daughter Megan.
Bradley stood up, straightened his suit, and said, "Relax, Maria. If you give me a son, I'll marry you.
"But we can't rush the divorce. I'll set up a meeting with Mr. Cavill this afternoon. I'll find you a new place to live. You should move out first."
After all these years of marriage, his wife had only given him a single daughter and then brought her kin to beat him up like this.
