Chapter 440 Caught Them Red-Handed

Over an hour later, in Evergreen Community, Maria was pacing the living room floor, her mind racing with worry about Megan.

Then the door creaked open and Bradley stepped in. Maria hurried across the room to meet him. "Well? Did Mr. Cavill agree to drop the lawsuit?"

Bradley let out a frustrated huff. "I've told you a million times, Hugh's a tough nut to crack. Your niece just had to stir the pot, didn't she?"

Maria felt a sharp disappointment. She sank onto the sofa, her shoulders slumping.

Bradley wasn't done. "Last time, bailing out your niece cost me 60 million dollars and a prime piece of real estate in the east. This time, Mr. Cavill's gunning for her, and I can't help. It's out of my hands."

At his words, Maria's eyes welled up with tears.

Pointing an accusing finger at Bradley, she sobbed, "If you don't save my niece, I'll terminate the pregnancy and walk out that door, right now!"

Bradley's eyes bulged in shock. "You're pregnant again?"

Maria sniffled, saying, "It's been over three months. I had it checked—it's a boy. I wanted to surprise you, but clearly, I don't matter to you. I'll go to the clinic tomorrow and end it all."

Panic flashed across Bradley's face. He wrapped his arms around her tightly. "If you give me a son, I'll divorce my wife and marry you in style."

Maria pushed him away, feigning indignation. "If you want this baby, you'll save my niece. That's non-negotiable."

Bradley grimaced, but eventually nodded. "I'll swallow my pride and see Mr. Cavill this afternoon. I'll do whatever it takes to get your niece out."

A look of relief washed over Maria's face.

She nestled into his arms, whispering, "I betrayed my best friend for you. I've been with you for years, no title, no respect. You owe me this."

Bradley kissed the top of her head. "It's been ages since I've been with you. Let me make it up to you."

Inside the room, the amorous couple lost themselves on the sofa.

Meanwhile, outside the door, Gwen and Jessica stood guard, their expressions full of disdain and anger.

Jessica's fists were balled so tightly. "That bitch Maria! My mom treated her like a sister, and she's been screwing my dad behind her back. I'm gonna make her pay!"

Gwen calmly placed a hand on Jessica's arm, holding her back. "Jessica, he's your old man. In a fight, he'll side with that bitch.

"But we've got them right where we want. Call your mom and tell her to gather everyone—your aunts, uncles, the whole family."
