Demi did die once. If she hadn't gone to another world, she would've become ash at that point. She didn't even know how she was saved. However, she remembered how every wound on her body was fixed.
A high-grade ointment was used on her. Although it could restore her skin back to how it was, no one said it wouldn't hurt at all. She was in extreme pain, and it felt like her whole body was being skinned entirely. Then, her body began to itch like there were countless bugs biting her.
Back then, she even thought she was in purgatory. However, she was told that the medicine was working its magic and that she had to endure it.
No matter how much it hurt or itched, she didn't dare to scream. She didn't even dare to cry when she was feeling uncomfortable and scared.
She was scared of upsetting the unfamiliar man in front of her. After all, he looked like he had a bad temper and would abandon her. Back then, that man, Atlas Crawford, still wasn't her mentor.
It took three whole months before she healed entirely. When she looked in the mirror again, her injured body looked brand new. Her previously scalded skin looked as smooth as a baby's skin again. In fact, her skin was more delicate than a baby's skin.
She didn't dare to be in the sun or have any drastic movements. Even though the clothes and blankets she used were made from silk, she still found them to be coarse and uncomfortable. Still, she overcame the situation and returned.
However, to the Pitt family, not only did she escape, but she was also fine. So, when she was furious, they thought she was being unreasonable and making a big deal out of nothing. In the end, they blamed her for not telling them she was alive and told her to go home with them like they were kind.
At that moment, they were telling her in a commanding tone to spend her birthday with Ana. They wanted her to celebrate her birthday at a place where all the decorations were about Ana.
Suddenly, Demi remembered what happened at Ana's birthday party in the previous year. Everyone was having fun and complimenting Ana nonstop. Ana had so many gifts that they could create a small mountain.
There was also a giant three-layered cake that smelled sweet. Then, everyone surrounded the cake and sang the happy birthday song for Ana. Demi was envious of Ana back then, and there was no way she wouldn't feel that way.
Demi also wanted to wear a beautiful dress and be surrounded by everyone as she shone. She wanted gifts, and she wanted to hear people complimenting her while she ate the delicious-looking cake.
Unfortunately, those people never ate the cake. Instead, they threw it around in a cake fight.
