Demi started performing acupuncture on Melissa in the living room on the first floor. "Mrs. Hort, let me do some acupuncture for you. Once we're done, I'll also make some pills for you. If you take them regularly, you'll start feeling better," she said as she pulled out her acupuncture needle kit.
"Oh, okay. Where do you need to do the acupuncturing? Can it be done here?" Melissa asked, a bit flustered and excited.
"On your head and hands. We can do it right here," Demi replied, getting up and walking toward Melissa.
"Wait!" Olivia quickly stood up and called out loudly.
Everyone turned to look at her. Matthew and Dalton exchanged looks, silently signaling her to be careful with her words.
"Uh... Ms. Moone, can I ask you something? Are you a geomancer or a doctor?" Olivia asked, staring intently at Demi.
"Both," Demi answered calmly.
"Let me ask you a question, and please don't take offense, okay?" Olivia said, a hint of hesitation in her eyes. "Do you have a medical license? Where did you study traditional medicine?"
Olivia hesitated because she knew this was a rude question. Normally, it wouldn't matter if she asked a regular doctor, but this was someone Felix had brought. Felix never allowed anyone to question him.
Demi fell silent.
Felix immediately frowned, his displeasure clear, and everyone in the Hort family noticed it.
"Do you not trust me? The most important issue has already been solved. If you still don't trust me, you can find another trusted traditional medicine practitioner to help you," Demi said as she turned to face them, her tone calm yet firm.
"No," Melissa immediately waved her hand. "My daughter doesn't know better. She's just being rude. Please go ahead and administer acupuncture. I trust you."
"Yes, Ms. Moone, we trust you," Dalton quickly added.
"Please don't hold it against my sister, Ms. Moone. She's just concerned about my mother. We're counting on you to treat her illness," Matthew also quickly chimed in.
Upon hearing this, Demi stood up again and moved toward Melissa.
She first inserted the needles into the back of Melissa's hand, then into her head.
"You'll need to keep the needles in for 20 minutes," Demi said as she sat back down in her seat.
Melissa's movements became a bit stiff.
