A Second Life, A New Power novel Chapter 172

"We do have a terrible relationship. We've had several serious conflicts. The most recent one was when a movie director chose me to be the lead actress in his movie. At the time, Ana was also auditioning for that role.

"Ms. Leary was convinced that I had stolen that role from Ana and was very upset at me. She kept pressuring me to give up that role. However, I refused. As a result, she was very unhappy with me," Demi explained.

"When did this happen?" Zack asked.

"A month before the car accident," Demi replied.

"You suspect that she wanted to kill you due to this argument?" Zack asked.

"It's possible. Every time I had a conflict with Ana, she'd always say that I'd made a mess of the Pitt family ever since I returned to them," Demi answered.

Under Zack's questioning, Demi recounted a few more incidents that had occurred in the Pitt family.

"Okay. We've recorded everything you've said. We'll conduct further investigation based on it," Zack informed her as he turned off the recording device.

"However, there's a high chance that this case will not go any deeper. Other than Ms. Leary closing the car door, there isn't any concrete evidence proving that she was trying to kill you."

"That's okay," Demi responded with a faint smile.

The reason why she was willing to talk this much was not to have Michelle behind bars. When her relationship with the Pitt family was exposed one day, she just hoped that her decision to break all relationships with them would not be viewed as being unreasonable or ungrateful. She wanted this conversation to justify her actions in the future.

"Other than that, we'd also like to mention Ms. Makins' child switching case. She was arrested last year with her accomplice due to drug abuse and trafficking. Her accomplice sold her out.

"The officers in charge had informed your biological parents about this. However, they chose not to pursue this matter any further. Of course, even if the victims don't want to press charges, the national judicial authorities will still prosecute.

"However, there won't be any civil compensation if the victim doesn't want to pursue the matter even further. As the victim of this case, you can still appeal for it if you want to pursue the case again," Zack informed.

Demi fell silent and then said, "I understand. Thank you. I'll think about it."

After sending the police officers off, Demi walked into Timothy's bedroom and saw Felix giving her a complex look. She knew he had heard everything.

Demi wasn't afraid to let other people know about what had happened. Her only concern was that Margaret would find out about it. The ones who should be worried were the Pitt family, especially Ana.
