Silvia blocked the new string of numbers without a second thought, just as she finished doing her makeup.
Noticing she was almost late for her meeting with Kent, she grabbed her bag, slipped on a pair of low heels, and hurried downstairs.
The moment she stepped out of Opal Ridge Retreat, she spotted a sleek Rolls-Royce idling at the curb.
She exhaled, smoothed her hair, and then walked over.
As she approached, Kent was already out of the car and holding the door open for her.
For a split second, Kent’s breath caught in his throat.
She wore a simple, ivory dress—elegant and understated, her makeup done just so for their fitting appointment. Her porcelain skin glowed, and her dark eyes sparkled, wide and luminous, enough to make anyone lose their composure.
As she bent to climb into the car, a hint of her sweet, heady perfume drifted past Kent, making his throat tighten. He closed the door gently after her and got in himself.
With the doors shut, her fragrance seemed to fill the air even more.
Kent cleared his throat, glancing her way. “You look beautiful today.”
“You always say that,” Silvia replied, half teasing, “like it’s just polite flattery.”
Still, she couldn’t help feeling a little delighted. There was something special about being complimented while wearing a dress she genuinely loved.
Kent caught the small smile tugging at her lips and knew she was pleased.
He started the car and headed toward the boutique.
Kent didn’t force conversation, driving quietly and steadily, making sure Silvia was comfortable in her seat.
She didn’t disturb his concentration, instead gazing out the window, her thoughts drifting far away.
When they arrived at the dress shop, Kent finally spoke. “If you don’t find anything you like here, we’ll just go to the next place. We have time—take as long as you need.”
“Alright,” Silvia agreed with an obedient nod.
