Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 300

Vianne stared at her mother in disbelief, her lips trembling as a wave of anguish crashed over her. The pain in her chest felt unbearable.

Since childhood, she and Finn had grown up side by side—she’d always considered him her brother. Back when she was too young to know better, she’d listened to Jewel’s manipulative whispers and tried to get close to Finn, but the outcome had been nothing like the rosy picture she’d imagined.

She’d been caught, and the entire Ashford family had blamed her for everything.

The memory of those days—being shamed, scolded, and gossiped about—made Vianne shake her head. She bit down hard on her lip and looked at Jewel with a seriousness that hadn’t been there before. “You pushed me into that back then, and I was the one who got dragged through the mud. I’m not a child anymore, and I won’t do those things again. Besides, I’m with Shipley now.”

Jewel let out a short, mocking laugh, as if she’d just heard the punchline to the world’s most ridiculous joke.

She smirked, her gaze lingering on Vianne with icy amusement. “Do you honestly think Shipley cares about you? I’ve seen the rumors online about the two of you. Judging by his reactions, he certainly doesn’t act like a man in love.”

Jewel’s words dripped with scorn, each one meant to pierce.

“You don’t understand anything!” Vianne’s voice cracked. People could say whatever they wanted about her, but the one thing she couldn’t stand was anyone questioning her relationship with Shipley.

She’d given up so much for him—honestly, Shipley was her whole world.

Jewel seemed unfazed by the outburst. Her lips curled into an even colder smirk. “Look at you—one little comment and you fall apart. Vianne, deep down, you know as well as I do that Shipley doesn’t love you. Isn’t that the truth?”

Vianne didn’t bother trying to argue anymore. Her patience for Jewel, already paper-thin, vanished the moment Shipley’s name was dragged into the conversation. Her eyes hardened.

“In any case, even if you walk away with a million dollars, you’re not leaving just yet. I want you here, by my side. If something happens, I need you to help me!”
