Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 298

But Kent had no patience for pleasantries.

He narrowed his sharp eyes and cut her off. “I didn’t come here to listen to you sing your own praises. I’m here to tell you—now that you’re back, stay away from Silvia. She’s not someone you want to get involved with.”

Jewel flinched, instinctively wanting to bolt. But then she remembered what Vianne had told her earlier.

Kent clearly valued Silvia...

So maybe, just maybe, she could get something out of this man first.

Besides, she was desperate for cash lately.

“Mr. Parsons.”

A faint smile played on Jewel’s lips as she addressed him, her tone suddenly light. “Whatever’s happened, one thing won’t change—Silvia and I are still family. That bond can’t be broken.”

She leaned back in her chair, relaxing as if she were settling in for a negotiation.

Kent’s expression didn’t change. “What do you want?”

Anyone who could walk away from the Ashford family with a small fortune wasn’t exactly known for their kindness. Clearly, Jewel was someone who’d do anything for money.

Jewel’s smile widened at his bluntness. She gave a little laugh, feigning innocence. “Mr. Parsons, what I want is simple—just some money. That’s all it takes for me to disappear.”

Kent glanced at his assistant.

The assistant, already prepared, stepped forward and placed a check for a million dollars, several photographs, and a contract on the table in front of Jewel.

“You have a choice.”

Kent’s tone was cold and detached. “Sign the contract, take the money, and leave. Or I hand these photos over to the police, and you’ll find Capital City a lot less welcoming.”
