Silvia couldn’t help but worry. Just now, in that brief, private conversation, it seemed Nannie’s few casual remarks might have swayed Kent’s opinion.

Kent narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze settling on Silvia. There was a hint of amusement in his expression as he watched her, the corner of his mouth lifting ever so slightly.

He finally spoke. “Yes. Tomorrow morning’s flight.”

“Alright.”

Silvia nodded, saying little more, but inside, she felt a quiet surge of happiness. Now that Nannie was leaving, there wouldn’t be anyone else left to flaunt their presence in front of her. The sense of security Silvia craved would finally be hers.

The thought made her smile. She looked at Kent, her face lighting up again, and asked, “How are you feeling now?”

“I’m ready to go home.”

“Okay.”

Silvia had wanted to drive Kent back herself, but he called for his driver instead, not wanting her to tire herself out.

They hadn’t even reached home before Silvia fell asleep in the back seat.

Watching her sleep so peacefully beside him, Kent couldn’t help but smile, a faint curve tugging at his lips. He reached out, gently brushing a few stray strands of hair from her face.
