Year Five The Perfect Goodbye Plan novel Chapter 193

Kent held her tightly, his gaze lowered as he looked at the woman in his arms. His eyes narrowed just slightly.

In that moment, he finally understood something.

Even if Nannie left tomorrow, it was clear she’d left a lasting impression on Silvia’s heart.

All he could do was make Silvia trust him more and more. With enough trust, she wouldn’t feel uneasy because of Nannie.

Pushing those thoughts aside, Kent spoke in a calm, even tone. “Yeah.”

Hearing his quiet affirmation, Silvia closed her eyes and relaxed, her anxieties soothed. She didn’t ask any more questions.

If he said so, she believed him.

After all this time together, Silvia had every reason to trust Kent’s character.

Neither of them had slept well the night before, and they’d both spent the day resting in their own rooms.

But after dinner that evening, Silvia felt wide awake.

She sat on the couch, half-watching a reality show, glancing over at Kent as he moved back and forth between the kitchen and the living room. A soft smile played on her lips.

This house, she thought, actually felt kind of nice.

Suddenly, Kent’s phone rang from where he’d left it on the table. Instinctively, Silvia glanced over.

When she saw the caller ID, something flickered in her eyes. Her hands tensed ever so slightly as she looked over at Kent, who was busy washing dishes.

“It’s your phone,” she said quietly. “It’s Nannie.”

The sound of running water stopped. Kent came out of the kitchen and glanced at Silvia. “You could have answered, you know.”

“No need.” Silvia turned to him, giving him a calm, reassuring smile. “I told you—I trust you. And if it’s really urgent, you’re the one she’ll need in the end.”

As she spoke, she turned down the volume on the TV.
