So Kent really does mean to send Nannie away?
But he used to treat her so well—how could he just throw her out so suddenly?
Silvia still couldn’t quite believe it. Yet, beneath her surprise, she had to admit there was a faint, secret thrill stirring inside her.
After finishing his conversation with Nannie, Kent walked over to Silvia. His gaze softened a little when he faced her, nothing like the icy look he’d given Nannie a moment ago.
He looked at Silvia, lips pressed into a thin line. “Silvia, I’m taking you home.”
“…Alright.”
She met his eyes, her own expression complicated. Everything was happening so fast she could barely keep up—she needed more time to process it all.
Maybe Kent’s feelings for Nannie weren’t what she’d thought after all…
Hearing Kent speak to Silvia like that, Nannie’s composure shattered. She let out a hoarse cry, eyes red, clawing desperately at the sheets.
“Kent! How can you treat me this way? I can’t live without you, and you just keep finding other women to make me jealous! What about all those promises you made? Do they mean nothing now? How can you live with yourself? My life was never supposed to turn out like this…”
Her voice broke, and Nannie dissolved into tears.
She stared at Kent, her eyes burning with accusation and bitterness—there wasn’t a trace of love left in them.
