Naomi looked at Patricia, hesitating to speak.
She felt that Lennon had a point, but he had only given a warning without explaining why.
Naomi could trust Lennon unconditionally because she had seen how brilliant he was at the studio, and everyone there trusted him implicitly. That's why she believed him.
But Patricia didn't know Lennon well, and Naomi couldn't exactly explain the whole situation to her.
So she didn't know how to bring up her concerns about Luther.
"What is it?" Patricia knew Naomi too well. Seeing her like this, she prompted, "Just say whatever's on your mind. We're best friends. We're not going to start keeping secrets over some guy, are we?"
Naomi agreed.
Her bond with Patricia was much stronger than whatever Patricia had with Luther.
So, she laid out her thoughts.
She put special emphasis on the money.
"Patricia, think about it. Those guys who ordered a bottle of expensive wine obviously know their way around a bar menu. A normal person wouldn't even ask if they had something that expensive. Besides, you'd already ordered plenty of drinks that night. They could have finished those, but they ordered more."
"And since you know Luther, wouldn't his friends have expected him to handle the bill?"
"Luther said he had no idea. Doesn't that excuse sound a little weak to you?"
The smile slowly faded from Patricia's face.
She wanted to argue with Naomi, but after hearing her out, she realized she couldn't find a single thing to rebut.
Patricia wasn't a bar person and didn't know the scene. She had only found out after calling the bar for an itemized bill.
But those guys knew exactly what expensive liquor to order and didn't hesitate.
