Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 12

Although none of them knew what had happened to make the two kids act this way, seeing how serious they both were, the adults could only smile and say, “Alright, alright. We won't interfere in your affairs. It's good that you've thought it through for yourselves.”

The adults exchanged glances. They all understood: the marriage alliance had to happen. They all lived in the same exclusive neighborhood. To put it bluntly, they wanted to keep the wealth within the circle; more politely, it was about maintaining relationships between their families, and marriage was the best and most stable way to do that.

The adults once again raised their glasses, acting as if the earlier interruption had never occurred.

Zebulon felt his phone vibrating in his pocket again. This time, he didn't take it out. He just lowered his eyes, a deep sense of unease settling in his stomach.

He, Zebulon, could reject the arranged marriage so bluntly, but what right did Naomi have?

She had fawned over him for so many years. How could she just give up like that?

A flicker in his eyes, Zebulon suddenly recalled someone mentioning that women like to use these kinds of tactics to get a man's attention. He instantly felt he had found the reason.

It must be because Naomi was still angry about what happened in the private room. That's why she was making a scene.

Thinking this, Zebulon felt confident once more.

Oh, Naomi. Let's just see how long you can keep up this act.

The thought had barely formed when Zebulon saw Naomi stand up, politely tell everyone she was finished and to enjoy their meal, and then walk straight out.

This only strengthened Zebulon's conviction.

See? Naomi must be unable to hold it together and went outside to cry.

Zebulon picked up his fork and started eating.
