Her call with Jonah ended just as the eighth car pulled away. For a second, she wondered… Was it Jonah?
At that moment, a sleek black Cadillac was weaving through traffic on the highway to the airport. Jonah sat in the backseat, eyes fixed on the world outside. The passing light played across his sharp features, making him look even more alone.
“Sir, are you sure about this?” The driver was an old man with silver hair. He glanced at Jonah in the rearview mirror, worry etched into every line of his face.
In France, he had seen firsthand how much Jonah cared for that woman. He knew Jonah had a lot on his shoulders. He wasn’t supposed to fall for anyone, let alone someone from the Watson family… someone who might never know all that Jonah had done.
“Don’t worry. I know where the line is.” Jonah lowered his lashes, shadows flickering across his face. He looked almost lost, but then he thought of Nelly finally reaching her goal. A small, genuine smile tugged at his lips.

The next afternoon, Nelly flew back to Westhaven right on schedule.
She and Nancy had chartered a private jet. They made sure to avoid Brody on the way out, so the flight home was finally quiet, just the two of them.
But some things won’t go away just by ignoring them. The runway incident was going to be all over the internet soon. Once the video dropped, people would dig into who she and Brody really were.
Nelly wasn’t allowed to use the Watson family’s name until she met all the conditions for her inheritance, so her identity was still under wraps. Brody, on the other hand, was the CEO of Garland Inc. Everyone would recognize him.
Sooner or later, the truth about their relationship would come out. A messy fight between husband and wife was the last thing Nelly’s brand needed. The public might gossip, but the real damage would be to her reputation within the Watson family—something she couldn’t fix.
Nancy spent the whole day thinking it over. The only way out was to buy the rights to the video from the organizers, keep it from spreading back home.
Nelly agreed. It was worth a try.
