When Family Became a Place I Couldn’t Return To novel Chapter 330

“It’s been ages since I’ve gone to a fashion show,” Brody said, his voice calm as he picked up the invitation Nelly had left on the table.

The Lumière Expo.

This was no ordinary event. It was the launch for all international luxury brands, the kind of thing only a true Watson family heiress could pull off. Nancy’s brand had barely launched and she was already on guest lists for exclusive shows like this.

“You’re not interested in this kind of stuff,” Nelly said, coming back over. She tossed a shirt at Brody and grabbed the invitation out of his hand.

“I’m here anyway. Might as well check it out, interested or not,” Brody replied. He pulled the shirt over his head, taking a deep breath and frowning at the feel of the fabric. Hotel clothes just couldn’t compare to his usual wardrobe.

“You might want to go, but I have zero interest in going with you,” Nelly said flatly as she checked the time. “Where is Alan? He’s usually fast.”

Brody didn’t answer her question. Instead, he asked, “So, how long are you staying here?”

Nelly gave him a look. “What are you trying to get at?”

She didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of an answer. Even now, even a bit under the weather, he still had that air of entitlement about him.

“I already had Alan book me a room on this floor,” Brody said as he stood up, his tall frame suddenly making the space feel even smaller.

“Brody, what are you doing?” Nelly felt her frustration building, her chest tight with anger. She should’ve left him at the café. This whole thing felt like a mistake.

“I told you. I just wanted to see you,” Brody said, taking a step closer. His voice dropped, and his face lost all its calm composure. Something intense flickered in his eyes, like he was holding back a storm.
