“Do you think she’ll end her contract with Nancy?”
Felix turned his wheelchair, eyeing Jonah with a careful look. His gaze paused on Jonah’s newly injured arm.
With Jonah watching over Nelly, Felix had been tied up with business, but word from his people was that Jonah took care of Nelly down to every little detail. Felix remembered his first order was just for Jonah to win Nelly’s trust and keep her under control. He never told him to get so involved.
Jonah lowered his head. “She probably will. I’ve already talked to her about it.”
“You talked to her? How exactly did you talk her into it?” Felix sounded like he was reading Jonah’s mind. “Did you tell her everything about your history with Nancy?”
Jonah didn’t confirm or deny it.
“Nancy and Nelly are close. I figured it’s better that Nelly hears it from me than from Nancy herself.”
Felix wasn’t surprised. With how late Jonah came back, he’d already guessed.
“But aren’t you worried Nelly won’t trust you anymore if you tell her all that?”
“Total honesty is the only way to really earn trust. At this point, I’m willing to take that risk.”
Jonah’s answer was as steady as ever.
Felix stared at him for a while, searching for any sign of weakness, but found nothing. After a moment, he let out a quiet sneer.
“I heard you went to the Capital recently. Was that injured arm for Nelly, too?”
Jonah’s voice was calm and low. “Everything I do is for your plan, Father.”
Felix narrowed his eyes. “Oh? Just for my plan?”
