When Family Became a Place I Couldn’t Return To novel Chapter 305

“Nelly.”

Jonah’s voice came from behind her as he hurried over.

Nelly turned to him right away, but then her eyes widened. One of his arms was in a cast.

“Jonah, what happened to your arm?”

She couldn’t believe it. They’d only been apart for two days. How did he end up hurt like this?

“It’s nothing. I just fell. Really, it’s just a scratch.”

“A scratch? That looks way worse than a scratch. Did you break it?”

Nelly reached out to check, but Jonah pulled back. “Let’s talk about it later. Right now, we have bigger problems. Father heard what happened. Things are a mess with the Watson family, and I’m worried it’s going to get back to you. And then there’s our business partners…”

Things were urgent. Jonah wouldn’t have come to see her like this unless it was really important.

Nelly’s eyes lingered on Jonah, full of worry. “I know this is serious, but I’m even more worried about Nancy. I need to find her first.”

Everything was falling apart at once. Nelly didn’t even have the energy to think about the business partners anymore. The internet was exploding with hate, and she had no idea if Nancy could handle all of it. Right now, the only thing that mattered was making sure Nancy was okay.

Just then, the receptionist ran over and whispered something to Nelly. Whatever she said made Nelly’s face go even paler.

The organizers of the brand launch wanted to see her right away. Nancy’s situation was snowballing, and the joint event with the international brands was now at risk of being canceled.

“You shouldn’t leave the office right now. Let me go find Nancy,” Jonah said, noticing how shaken Nelly was. He understood exactly what she was up against.

“Okay. Please, just make sure she’s alright. She’s probably taking it the hardest. Tell her not to worry about anything else for now. We’ll come up with a plan together later.”

Nelly trusted Jonah completely. She gave him a quick, worried nod, then hurried off with the others.
