When Family Became a Place I Couldn’t Return To novel Chapter 261

Tina could barely believe how things were turning out. Brody might still make excuses for Nelly because of Carrie, but Tina was done being patient. Brody was hurt, and his father Jason would take her side if things got loud. This was her chance to finally let all her anger out.

She grabbed Nelly’s arm hard. “You think you can just leave? Forget it. Until Brody is okay, you’re not going anywhere. You’re going to stay right here and think about what you’ve done.”

Nelly met her glare, her voice cold. “Let go of me.”

Alan rushed in, nervous and worried things would get messy. He gently pulled Tina back. “Please, Mrs. Garland, calm down. Mr. Garland’s still resting. Let’s not make a scene here…”

Tina shook Alan off, her finger stabbing the air in Nelly's direction. “How can I calm down? Look at her. Does she act like Brody’s wife? She’s rude to me, she ignores her daughter, she never helps her husband—instead, she gets him hurt. And now she wants to walk away, like she’s done nothing wrong? She’s still so full of herself, so shameless!”

Nelly let out a short laugh. “Yeah. I’m so awful, so why does your family keep chasing after me? Brody won’t let me go, and you still think I should behave like your daughter-in-law. But let me be clear. Even if you got down and begged, I wouldn’t be a part of your family for one more second.”

Her words hit Tina like a slap. Tina’s cheeks burned red with anger. She wrenched herself free from Alan and raised her hand to strike Nelly, but her wrist was caught in the air.

“Let—”

She expected Alan, but when she turned, she was staring up at a man she’d never seen before. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and had a commanding presence that made everyone in the room feel smaller. Tina’s confidence vanished.

Nelly looked at him too—Jonah had arrived. Behind him were several bodyguards, all wearing sharp suits, each one standing tall and serious.
