When Family Became a Place I Couldn’t Return To novel Chapter 250

Nicholas wanted a child so badly that he kept pushing his fragile sister, over and over. She died because she tried to give him what he wanted. She gave up everything for him, and he never deserved her pure, selfless love. And after Sandy was gone, Nicholas still acted like the heartbroken widower. He stayed single for years… then suddenly, he has a daughter.

Even while living deep underground, Ben always kept an eye on the Watson family. The more he knew, the more he grew to hate them, just as much as he hated the people who ruined his own life.

“So you want me dead just because you hate Nicholas?”

Nelly didn’t know what to say. She didn’t know the full story between Ben and Nicholas, but from where Ben stood, everything awful that happened to his sister was the Watson family’s fault.

“You’re really not that important. Neither is the Watson family. Neither is Nicholas. I just don’t like people messing with my peace.”

Ben let out a cold snort and turned his attention back to a petri dish, studying whatever was inside.

“But I am curious. Your dad is Christopher. Why are you working for Nicholas?”

Nelly was pretty sure Ben wasn’t going to help her, but she explained anyway. Ben let out a short laugh.

“Knew it. People in the Watson family are all the same inside. It’s always about what you can get, isn’t it?”

“Maybe,” Nelly replied quietly. She didn’t want to argue. “But since you let me go, doesn’t that mean you can meet with Nicholas for me too?”

Ben gave her a cold, sharp look. Nelly could see the irritation in his eyes. She knew she’d hit a sore spot.

Jude had told her the boss let her go, which probably meant the masked man was helping her. He hadn’t just set her free. He even got Ben to come meet her. It was like he wanted to help all the way.
