The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1322

No wonder, she thought. Even before the baby was born, it was already being so stubborn.

Did they really find him that unbearable?

“You all, out. I want to talk to Franco alone,” Allanson said, his voice low and steady.

Alone?

Charlotte’s brows knit together. She parted her lips to protest, but Franco cut in first. “Lottie, wait for me outside. Trust me.”

Anthony nodded, eyes fixed on Charlotte’s pale face, worry written all over him. “Let’s just step out for now, alright?”

Charlotte hesitated for a few seconds, her discomfort growing. Finally, she gave in and followed Anthony out.

The hall fell into a heavy, tense silence.

Franco squeezed Nora’s hand. They stood side by side, facing Allanson calmly.

“You came all this way to the Isle of Veil just to kill me, didn’t you?” Allanson lifted his teacup, brushing the tea leaves aside. He stared at Franco, his dark eyes narrowing. “You had your chance just now. Why didn’t you take it?”

Taking his life would have handed Franco the entire Isle of Veil. Finding the right person and the antidote would be easy after that.

But instead of making a move, his rebellious son had actually stepped in front of him to block Aloys.

Nora was puzzled too. She glanced at Franco but stayed quiet.

“And what about you?” Franco raised his chin, meeting Allanson’s eyes. His voice was quiet. “Why did you let our people in so easily?”

A small, almost sly smile tugged at Allanson’s lips. His eyes, usually so clouded, seemed to light up for a second. “Franco, you really are sharp.”
