The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1328

Even if she agreed to start over, then what? Success or failure would still be up to her in the end.

“Allanson is acting so mysteriously this time,” Franco muttered as he pulled his wife closer, gently running his fingers through her hair. “The antidote is what really matters.”

Nora glanced at Newell, then sighed and nodded.

“The meeting starts in just over an hour,” Anthony said softly as he brushed his hand against Charlotte’s cheek. His voice was gentle and warm. “Why don’t you go rest in the next room for a bit?”

“Okay,” Charlotte replied.

She let Anthony guide her away. When she lay down, she held onto his hand, not wanting to let go.

“What’s wrong?” Anthony turned to find Charlotte staring at him, her gaze fixed and serious.

“Do you think I’m being selfish?”

He frowned a little and sat on the edge of the bed, leaning in closer, his hands planted on either side of her.

“I agreed to Allanson’s terms for the antidote,” Charlotte whispered, tilting her chin up. Her eyes were clear and bright, her voice a little rough. “All I could think about was saving Newell. I didn’t even stop to think about how you or my parents would feel...”

“That’s what’s bothering you?” Anthony let out a soft laugh and gathered her into his arms, holding her close. He rested his chin on the top of her head and his voice dropped to a gentle murmur by her ear, full of tenderness and pain. “Do you remember what I told you?”

Charlotte blinked, a little lost.

“Whatever you want to do, I’m with you,” Anthony said, touching her face and brushing his nose against hers, their breath mingling. “We’ve already made it through life and death. What else is there to be afraid of?”

Her heart skipped wildly at his words.
