The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 609

Jace’s eyes were rimmed with red, and even though Lilly’s voice was soft and soothing, hot tears kept falling down his cheeks.

He pulled her into a tight hug, his whole body shaking with sobs he couldn’t control. “Lilly, I don’t have a mom anymore. I don’t have parents at all.”

Lilly hugged him back, just as tight. It was the first time he’d ever let anyone see him like this. The first time he’d ever cried in front of someone.

She nodded, her voice steady. “I’m sorry, Jace. But you still have Victoria. And you have me. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll stay with you. Always.”

Lilly stood on her tiptoes and gently cradled his face in her hands. She pressed a kiss to his forehead.

It was the kind of kiss that said everything words couldn’t.

Jace held her again, needing to feel that closeness.

Jace had to leave. The hospital took care of everything for Tiffany, so Lilly and Victoria brought her ashes home.

Lilly set the urn and Tiffany’s framed photo on a little table. Victoria lit an incense stick, the scent filling the room, and bowed deeply.

“Victoria, we’ll keep watch here tonight. Tomorrow, you’re coming home with me,” Lilly said.

“Lilly, I want to stay here,” Victoria whispered.

“No, it’s not safe for you to stay here alone,” Lilly said, her voice firm but caring. “You’re coming with me. I’m not arguing about this.”

Victoria nodded. “Alright.”

Lilly reached out and patted Victoria on the head. “There are lots of rooms at my place. My dad and Ava are both wonderful, you’ll love them. So don’t be scared, okay? It’s late, you have school tomorrow, and your exams are coming up. Go get some sleep. I’ll stay here and keep watch tonight.”

Victoria shook her head. “Lilly, I want to stay with Mom too.”
