I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 651

"Do you know someone named Horace?"

Gordon's expression changed dramatically on the spot.

***

On the street.

A crowd of onlookers had gathered, almost all of them young women. At first, they were captivated by Horace, but then their attention shifted to Steven.

No one approached, but they were all frantically taking pictures.

Seeing this, George quickly went to talk to them, explaining that Horace needed his privacy and asking them to delete the photos.

Seeing that I had obediently returned to the guesthouse, Steven's mood improved considerably, his expression softening.

He didn't leave, and neither did Horace. Their gazes clashed in midair, sparks flying. They were irreconcilable.

Horace's handsome, refined face was cold, and a hidden ferocity churned in his dark eyes.

"Steven, since you're so entangled with Verna, why won't you let Zephyra go? The world doesn't revolve around you. Zephyra has her own choices. You're taking advantage of her amnesia, trying to deceive her into loving you again. It's despicable."

"In the past, you were all-powerful and could do as you pleased. But things are different now. I won't let her go through that again."

"Despicable?" Steven scoffed lightly. "The one thing Zephyra hates most is having her life controlled and her freedom taken away. You've done that too, making you just as despicable as me. What right do you have to judge me?"

Horace's eyes narrowed slightly, his face grave.

"When have I ever taken her freedom?"

Steven's smile was long and cold.

"Someone made her lose her memory. There are only two people who stand to gain from that: me and you. I checked on the person who was supposed to pick her up from the airport—a friend of yours. If the bridge collapse hadn't happened so suddenly, the moment she lost her memory after going abroad, she would have been under your control. Whether she would be Mrs. Lancaster or Mrs. Spencer would have been entirely up to you."

"The more you mock me, the more it shows how jealous you are. Are you jealous that Zephyra and I were childhood sweethearts? Or are you jealous that I will always hold a special place in her heart, that our bond is unbreakable, whether we're married or not?"

A chill entered Steven's deep-set eyes.

"You have no confidence at all that you can keep her this time, do you?" Horace took a step toward Steven. His face was gentle, but his eyes were sharp, full of a piercing intensity. The mask of warmth and elegance was shattered, his true self laid bare.

"It's true. I was the one who gave her the drug that caused her amnesia. Zephyra married you back then to save my legs. She was young and foolish and once had a naive crush on you, but you didn't cherish it. You tortured her, shattered her, leaving her with nothing but painful memories. Now that she doesn't want you anymore, she's still unhappy. So, I helped her erase that past pain. What's wrong with that?"

"You know full well she married you for my sake. So what if I manipulated her? Our bond is so strong that even if she regained her memory right now and found out I was the one who did this, she wouldn't blame me. But if you were the one who gave her that drug, she would stab you with a knife. Steven, that is the difference between you and me."

Finally, as Steven's expression grew colder and colder, Horace spoke with a slow, chilling arrogance.

"Zephyra doesn't belong to you. Zephyra and I are a fated couple. You just occupied her for far too long, and now you delusionally want to keep her. Hah."

"But no matter what happened in the past, I will take back everything I've lost, one by one. This time, it's your turn to be knocked out of the game—"
