Fabian didn't take Rosalind to the nearest hospital, but to the Caesar Hotel in the city center.
The traffic was terrible, with gridlock everywhere.
Fabian craned his neck, anxious about wasting any time.
Rosalind, sitting in the back seat, said calmly, "Fabian, don't panic. Tell me about the patient's symptoms."
"I can't really say what the symptoms are. She just suddenly fainted. I haven't seen her myself." Fabian glanced at the driver before lowering his voice to speak to Rosalind. "The patient has been frail since childhood and has a history of anemia. Although she's the adopted daughter sponsored by the Martinez family, she bears a striking resemblance to Ms. Martinez, so Mr. Martinez dotes on her like his own granddaughter. You'll need to be careful when you go in."
Rosalind asked nonchalantly, "Didn't Ms. Martinez go missing as a child? How could anyone tell they look alike?"
Fabian sighed heavily. "There are childhood photos. This girl was found among trafficked children. I was there when we found her. The moment Mr. Martinez saw her, he said she looked just like the photos of Ms. Martinez. They even did a DNA test, but it wasn't a match. Mr. Martinez was heartbroken for a long time."
After hearing the story, Rosalind's interest waned. "I see."
She wasn't particularly interested in the Martinez family's private affairs.
What concerned her was the sudden fainting. Every illness has warning signs. This kind of abrupt onset... she decided to wait and see when she got there.
She had to do this favor for Fabian.
Meanwhile, in the hotel's French restaurant.
A well-dressed woman carrying a Chanel bag entered first. She didn't take a seat but held the door open, turning sideways to let a young woman in behind her.
The young woman wore a custom-made, snow-white gown. Her face, pale from a life spent indoors, looked exceptionally delicate. A limited-edition necklace adorned her neck. Under the lights, she looked like a princess who had escaped from a fairy tale.
Her arms were slender, her skin smooth and fair. One look at her hands was enough to know she was the pampered daughter of a wealthy family.
"My goodness!"
The wealthy socialites having afternoon tea gasped, their voices dropping to whispers.
The young woman seemed to possess everything they envied: diamonds, designer bags, and most importantly, an aura of being utterly adored.
Rachel was among the socialites. Watching the others gossip, she asked, "I thought the Martinez family only had sons for generations?"
After the incident with the Gonzalez family, fewer people invited Rachel to play cards. The others were deliberately avoiding her, and the social shunning was obvious.
Today's outing was only happening because Rachel had brazenly insisted on treating them.
Mrs. Sterling, a jeweler, initially ignored Rachel's question. But considering that the main Cooper family was in Prax, she answered lazily, "The Martinez family did have a granddaughter, but she was lost as a child. This one is adopted. She's completely spoiled. You'd better not ask such questions in the future; you'll offend someone."
