As he spoke, he hurried forward to help Grandma Megan up, but his eyes were on Rosalind. “Ms. Martinez, are you alright?”
If she had actually been hit, the leaders would have his hide!
She had been entrusted to his care, and he had notified all the relevant departments.
And yet, something had still happened!
Horace felt a bitter taste in his mouth, already thinking about how he would explain this when he got back.
Rosalind shook her head, her expression serene. “They say they're police officers, enforcing the law.”
“Police? Where are their badge numbers?” Horace's eyes darkened as he looked at the two uniformed men!
But they paid no attention to this short man who had arrived on an electric scooter, saying coldly, “Is this any of your business? Move aside!”
In all his years of work, no one had ever dared to speak to Horace like that. “What's your name?”
“Are you deaf or something?” One of the uniformed men was extremely aggressive, raising his stun baton. “You interfere with our work again and see what happens!”
Lucien, who was with him, frowned. “Which precinct are you from? Why is this your attitude while on duty?”
“Do we have to tell you which precinct we're from?” The two were used to throwing their weight around and had no regard for ordinary citizens like these. “All of you, move! If you don't, we'll take you all in!”
Horace was furious. “I'd like to see you try and take us!”
“It's you we're taking!” The uniformed man was unreasonable, and his fist was about to land on Horace's shoulder.
Thump!
With a swift kick, Rosalind sent him flying half a meter away!
Her eyes were as calm and undisturbed as ever.
It was as if she hadn't acted before simply because she couldn't be bothered to fight.
