Yolanda bit her lip and shook her head. “It’s not her fault. The Yates family has just been through too much change recently, and she’s having trouble accepting it.”
Her words seemed harmless, but they effectively painted Rosalind as the villain.
Zachary frowned. “Yolanda, speak your mind. We’re here for you, don’t be afraid. She can’t bully you!”
“She’s not bullying me!” Yolanda straightened her neck, then lowered her gaze demurely. “She just misunderstands us. Our families are close, so my father gave the Celestial Nettle to the Gonzalez family as a thank-you gift when the Professor took me as her student. And then…”
Zachary sneered. “And then she shows up here making trouble for no reason!”
“Zachary, calm down,” Grace said magnanimously. “It’s best to clear up misunderstandings, otherwise people might think the Gonzalez family’s Celestial Nettle was obtained through dishonest means.”
Rosalind watched this tedious performance and slowly smiled. “The Gonzalez family? Have you ever obtained anything honestly?”
“All you do is talk tough!” George’s eyes blazed with fury. “If you’re so capable, why don’t you produce a stalk of Celestial Nettle yourself!”
She could grow Celestial Nettle whenever she wanted, but she saw no need to show it off here.
Rosalind’s lips curved, her eyes deep and unreadable. She walked over to Grace. “My grandmother raised an ungrateful son who would steal his own mom’s Celestial Nettle for outsiders. That is her burden to bear, and she has decided to let it go. But on behalf of all the patients out there, I’d like to ask the Gonzalez family: do you sleep soundly at night?”
“What are you implying!” George lunged forward, ready to strike Rosalind.
A Turner family bodyguard stepped in, raising an arm to block him. “Sir, violence is forbidden on Turner family property.”
Mr. Turner Sr. stood at the center of it all, silent, his gaze heavy.
Grace knew they couldn’t keep arguing over these petty matters. If they annoyed the Turners any further, things would end badly for everyone.
“Mr. Turner Sr., I swear on the century-old reputation of the Gonzalez family that there is nothing wrong with this stalk of Celestial Nettle.” Grace’s audacity was boundless. She held Yolanda’s hand. “This is a gift from me and my student to the Turner family, for the treatment of Mr. Turner.”
