Rosalind didn’t answer. She chewed on her candy, her long hair framing her face as she watched the clock in the hall.
Grace took her silence as submission. Full of confidence, she took Yolanda’s arm and returned to her seat.
Yolanda, for some reason, felt her heart beating a little too fast.
Perhaps it was because she would soon meet that man…
She lowered her gaze to the wooden box. As she thought, the Celestial Nettle was the only key to opening the door to the Turner Group.
Before the watchful eyes of the entire room, Mr. Turner Sr. reached out and lifted the wooden box.
Everyone looked on with envy, about to offer their congratulations to Grace.
Then, Mr. Turner Sr. spoke in a low voice. “While my family may not be saints, we do not stoop to taking what rightfully belongs to another. Life and death are matters of fate. The Celestial Nettle is indeed a rare treasure, but the Turner family cannot accept this medicine.”
What?
In an instant, all eyes turned to Mr. Turner Sr.
Including Rosalind, who raised an eyebrow in surprise, a new light in her beautiful eyes.
Mr. Turner Sr. placed the box back down. He raised his right hand, and projected onto the wall behind him were two stark words: Offer Rejected.
They say a person's handwriting reflects their character. So cold…
If Rosalind wasn't mistaken, that must have come from Mr. Turner himself.
Sure enough, Mr. Turner Sr. burst into loud, hearty laughter. “It seems my grandson and I are of the same mind.”
“Mr. Turner Sr., this is Celestial Nettle!” Grace shot to her feet. “Do you have any idea how many people would kill to have this? Besides, isn’t this exactly what Mr. Turner’s illness requires?”
Mr. Turner Sr. leaned on his cane. Before making his decision, he had been conflicted.
On one side was his most brilliant grandson; on the other, his family's principles.
It was a difficult choice.
But now that the decision was made, he felt a sense of relief. “Everyone has their own destiny.”
Grace was dumbfounded. She had never imagined this outcome. Logically, as soon as she presented the Celestial Nettle, the Turner family should have treated her like an honored guest.
