The newcomer was dressed trendily, with fair skin and handsome features. A pair of red headphones hung around his neck; he looked more like a rapper than a doctor.
He plopped down next to Rosalind, still grumbling, "My old man always gives me these kinds of chores. Looking after some girl? Do I look like the babysitting type?"
He then looked Rosalind up and down, his gaze sharp. "You've really made a splash. You've got guts, announcing that name."
Rosalind stared at his face for a long moment, her eyes holding a deep meaning. "Theodore Lopez?"
Theodore's eyes widened. Wait a minute, the way this girl said his name... it sounded just like his boss.
An illusion. It had to be an illusion!
Theodore checked his phone. The boss hadn't said anything about coming to the symposium. The last message on their chat was still the one where she declined the job.
He knew it. His brilliant, all-powerful boss couldn't possibly be a girl younger than him.
He must have been studying too hard lately, his brain was short-circuiting.
Theodore shook his head and made a shushing motion at Rosalind. "Keep it down. Didn't Grandma Megan tell you before you came? Don't mention her name. Just stick with me and... uh, I mean, learn from the masters as they treat patients."
Rosalind watched his performance with a detached amusement.
Theodore was still oblivious to the meaning behind her gaze.
Two other young men who had followed him over joined them.
"Mr. Lopez, who's this?" asked Boris Young, the youngest grandson of the Young family.
Theodore shrugged. "A friend of mine."
Boris studied Rosalind for a moment. "She's actually really pretty."
Yolanda lowered her eyes shyly. "Ma'am, you're teasing me. Zachary and I are just classmates."
"Classmates who have been staring at you since you walked in?" Grace said, like a seasoned expert. "I know you have many admirers. As for the Lopez family... not even worth mentioning!"
At the hospital, the Lopez family had sided with that wretched girl.
They were also the happiest when the Gonzalez Group was removed from the Cadogan Practice's list.
The Cadogan Practice may be prestigious, but she held the miracle cure for Mr. Turner. Who wouldn't know how to play their cards right?
Look at the other prominent families, and then look at the Lopez family, reduced to befriending Megan's student. Utterly classless.
The classless Theodore was currently hunched over a form. With a pen in his mouth, he asked Rosalind, "what's your call sign? The four of us will be a team. I'll report it to the Turner family all at once."
Rosalind rested her chin on her hand, about to reveal her identity...
