Rosalind didn't actually let the guard take her bag. "No trouble at all. This contains my medical tools. I'll carry it myself. You can go back to your duties."
She still needed to meet the "old friend's grandson" her grandmother had mentioned, so drawing too much attention wasn't ideal.
The guards were tactful. "As you wish, then. This way, please."
Grace could no longer stand it. "Are you certain that invitation is real?" she demanded through gritted teeth.
"That's right! Maybe you made a mistake!" Rachel shouted louder than anyone.
She knew that girl's background better than anyone. How could she possibly have a real invitation?
Yolanda tugged at her sleeve, her teeth biting her lower lip. "Mom, this is the Turner family's estate."
Only then did Rachel regain her senses and stop herself from arguing with the guards.
Her daughter was right. This was the Turner family's territory; she couldn't act rashly.
Logan, however, didn't share that sentiment. He had always looked down on doormen. "You're just going to let a fraud walk in? Who's going to take responsibility when something happens?!"
The two guards ignored him and continued with their work.
Logan's temper flared. He pointed a finger at one of the guards' faces. "Are you deaf? I said she's a fraud! She's killed a patient..."
The guard's eyes turned sharp. "Sir, I suggest you lower your hand immediately."
Logan ignored him and continued to rage. "You're all just a bunch of low-class grunts who can't even understand simple..."
With a swift movement, the guard twisted Logan's hand. Logan cried out in pain as his finger was broken.
"Insolence is not tolerated on Turner family property."
The guard's voice was deep and resonant, even causing Rosalind, who was already inside, to glance back.
The guard immediately switched his expression, smiling warmly at her. "Did we disturb you? We'll take care of this right away."
With that, the guard whistled.
