But she held her tongue. Mrs. Gonzalez Sr. was shrewd; she would never reveal the news that her family was on the verge of collapse in front of everyone.

Her priority now was to placate these unsophisticated, minor families. “You’re right. Everyone has witnessed how formidable the Gonzalez family has been in the medical field over the years. It’s just that on such a joyous occasion, this news is rather… unfortunate.”

Sean, being a businessman, found the situation unsettling.

Rachel, however, was terrified that her daughter’s apprenticeship would fall through. She continued to flatter Mrs. Gonzalez Sr. “Of course! You’ve even won awards abroad, Mrs. Gonzalez Sr. When you came back, you easily put everyone else in their place!”

Mrs. Gonzalez Sr. didn't mention that the targeted drug analysis that won her the award was provided by the Cadogan Practice. She only sighed. “Rachel, let's be modest. The Gonzalez family has its shortcomings. For instance, in treating Mr. Turner, we’re missing a key ingredient, Celestial Nettle. Otherwise, we wouldn’t need to involve other families.”

“Celestial Nettle?” Yolanda asked with an innocent expression, as if the thought had just occurred to her. “Dad, don’t I remember Grandma having a lot of traditional medicines, and a medical book too?”

Mrs. Gonzalez Sr., surprised at her quick thinking, asked, “Sean, the Yates family has such things?”

Sean looked hesitant. “That’s just a bunch of old junk my mother keeps. It’s nothing valuable.”

“If it’s nothing valuable, why does that old woman treasure it so much?” Rachel scoffed.

Sean shot her a look, silently warning her to mind the occasion.

But a glint appeared in Mrs. Gonzalez Sr.'s eyes. “Well, never mind. The Gonzalez family would never take what others cherish. It’s just that the invitations to treat the Turner family are quite limited…”

The mention of the Turner family invitation was all it took for Rachel. “Mrs. Gonzalez Sr., you’re Yolanda’s master now, which makes us family! We will absolutely send you the Celestial Nettle and the medical book. Isn’t that right, Sean?”

Sean, too, hardened his resolve. “That’s right. I’ll send someone over to my mother’s place tonight!”

“That would be wonderful,” Mrs. Gonzalez Sr. beamed. “In that case, Yolanda can accompany me to the Turner family’s consultation in a week. Our Yolanda is so beautiful, she might even catch Mr. Turner's eye…”
