Go Back and I Rule There novel Chapter 15

The old man had just been passing by and decided to try his luck when he saw the clinic.

He never imagined he would actually be healed. When he learned that Rosalind wasn't charging a single cent, he was ready to kneel before her.

Rosalind stopped him, wiping his hands clean. “Sir, this wasn’t a major illness. It’s just a standard bone-setting procedure. Any competent doctor would treat it this way.”

The old man confused. “But Dr. Gonzalez said I absolutely needed surgery. The fee was outrageous, too—10 thousand dollars.”

10 thousand dollars?

The people around him frowned at the figure.

For an ordinary person, that was a devastating amount.

“What is this Dr. Gonzalez doing? Robbing people?!” Mrs. Zade was the first to voice her outrage. As a former official, she had a soft spot for the common people.

The others were angry too, turning to Horace. “Horace, you need to look into this!”

Horace wiped his brow. “I… I’ll do my best.” But he wasn't in the medical administration.

“10 thousand dollars! What kind of surgery costs that much?!”

“There’s definitely corruption involved!”

The old man didn't understand. “Corruption? Isn’t Dr. Gonzalez the best doctor in Sol? People in my county say it’s almost impossible to get an appointment with her. My son had to try for three days just to get me one. The hospital was filled with people waiting to see her. How could a doctor like that be corrupt?”

Horace sighed. “It’s understandable why you’d ask that, sir. The Gonzalez family is indeed the head of the four great medical families of Sol, and their skills are exceptional. Especially in the last six months, they’ve cured many patients with terminal illnesses.”

“See, that’s what I’m talking about,” the old man said with a naive smile. “A prestigious family like the Gonzalezes wouldn’t lie to me.”

Mrs. Zade grew even angrier. “They’re just bullying honest people!”

“Mrs. Zade, you’re forgetting what I told you,” Rosalind said, looking up at her. “Don’t get too agitated.”

Mrs. Zade put her hands behind her back. “I can’t help it! How could they… Ugh!”

“Doctors who betray their oath will eventually face justice,” Rosalind said, her voice calm and even. Her stunning face revealed no emotion.
