Go Back and I Rule There novel Chapter 145

Sean instinctively looked behind her. Where was Mr. Bright?

Rosalind smiled nonchalantly. "Are you looking for someone?"

Sean put on a fake smile. "Rosalind, there's been a misunderstanding between us."

"What misunderstanding?" Rosalind's lips curved slightly. "The misunderstanding where you nearly drove me to my death, or the one where you told me to hurry up and crawl back to the countryside?"

Whispers erupted from the onlookers. "Are these really parents? How could they treat a child like that!"

Rachel couldn't stand the neighborhood gossips and finally exploded. "She's not even our biological daughter! What do you expect us to do? Coddle her? She's a leech, we can't even get rid of her!"

Sean knew she was about to ruin everything and quickly pulled her back.

"Stop talking." He shot her a warning look. Have you forgotten why we're here?

But Rachel's eyes darted around as she declared, "This girl was at the bottom of her class, couldn't even handle school! She's lazy and good-for-nothing, and now she's streaming to seduce old men! How do you expect us to treat her?!"

Seducing old men?!

Mrs. Yates Sr. heard that and felt a tremor of rage. "You're lying!"

"I am not lying. Didn't she go out to eat with some big-shot businessman today?" Rachel's smile was cold. "Since everyone's here, you can all be the judge. Mother, are you really that naive? A girl like her… you think a powerful businessman would neglect his multi-million dollar deals to come to this alley to find her? He's only here because she's young and pretty!"

Mrs. Yates Sr. clutched her chest.

Rosalind took the cane from her and gently patted her back. "Grandma, you're getting worked up again. I told you before, they're not worth it."

Mrs. Yates Sr. gripped Rosalind's hand. "It's not for them. Rosalind, my sweet girl, how could they say such things about you?"
