It was clear that Fitch's mood had soured.
The reporter was stunned, and the others looked awkward.
Especially the members of the Woods family, who were there as representatives. They had always been the face of Sol, with Zachary taking center stage at every major public event.
But today, this Mr. Bright from Prax had put them in their place right from the start.
But what could they do? He was the second-in-command of Homp Group, a major investor the city had to court.
The Woods family had no choice but to swallow their pride!
In the small alley, Mrs. Zade also saw the scene on TV and chuckled. “Looks like another big shot is in town. Otherwise, that old patriarch of the Woods family would never be smiling so obsequiously.”
Rosalind hung up the phone, a surprised. “Mrs. Zade, you know the Woods family?”
“Not well. I was good friends with your grandmother,” Mrs. Zade grumbled. “There isn't a decent person in that whole family. But Rosalind, I remember you were engaged to their eldest grandson, weren’t you?”
Rosalind then recalled the public humiliation of her broken engagement. “That’s over now.”
“Over?!” Mrs. Zade shot up. “The Woods family has no integrity! They’re just bullying you because they know your grandmother is unwell! This won’t do. I have to call my daughter and get you justice!”
Rosalind gently stopped her, her tone a mix of helplessness and amusement. “Mrs. Zade, I honestly can’t stand that repulsive man from the Woods family.”
Mrs. Zade was skeptical. “You can’t stand him? Didn’t you want to marry him back in middle school? You even said he saved you.”
Was that a thing? Rosalind replied calmly, “I was just a foolish teenager. I’ve long since forgotten about it.”
“Have you really forgotten, or are you just afraid of worrying your grandmother?” Mrs. Yates Sr., who had just finished with a patient, was in high spirits until she overheard that her granddaughter’s engagement was off. A look of guilt crossed her face. “Is it because of me that the Woods family called it off?”
Rosalind went to support Megan. “Grandma, you’re overthinking again. The Woods family simply looks down on me. It has nothing to do with you.”
